About this site
Aquarium is a reef dive site at Mnemba Atoll, considered a must-do dive there, and it is accessible to both novice and experienced divers, requiring at minimum an Open Water certification. The maximum depth is 11–12 m, making it a shallow site well suited to beginners.
The terrain is defined by hard lettuce corals stacked on top of each other, with hundreds of small fish hovering above them. Currents at the site range from mild to strong, though there is usually only a slight current during a dive. Water temperature runs between 24–30°C and visibility is good.
Marine life at Aquarium is varied across the water column. Green turtles rest among the corals, scratching their backs or sleeping. Schools of snappers and goatfish pass through, while giant marbled groupers attend cleaning stations where cleaner fish work them over. Looking up rather than down rewards divers with bluefin trevallies hunting schools of fusiliers in open water above the reef.
