The Baron Gautsch is the most famous wreck in the Adriatic, an Austrian passenger steamer that hit a minefield in 1914. She now lies at 28 to 40 m (92 to 131 ft) and has become an artificial reef with a large variety of sea life, including sponges and schooling fish.
It is an advanced dive. The requirements are Open Water certification, at least 20 logged dives recommended, and a Deep Diving specialty recommended for anything below 30 m. The wreck is dived with a certified guide, and the main season runs from June to September.
