Birthday Ledges is a sandstone ledge facing out to sea off the Bluff, at 14 metres on top and 18 metres at its deepest. It sits off the fence on the Bluff, and the dive starts with a cave. A local diver found it on his birthday in 2002, which gave it the name, and it is called the premier dive on the Bluff.
Swimming north with the ledge on your left shoulder you meet gullies and small holes. The top of the reef is covered in red thistle coral, with various hard corals and tube worms. Take your time, because the longer you stay the more you see.
Frogfish, paperfish, raggy scorpionfish, broad-barred lionfish, Moorish idols, turtles, pipefish, emperor and semicircle angelfish, potato bass and pineapplefish are all listed here.
