Chac Mool Cenote lies about 23 km south of Playa del Carmen, immediately after Puerto Aventuras. The dive starts in Cenote Little Brother, a few steps from the parking area, and a short tunnel leads from there into Chac Mool. Maximum depth is 12.5 metres (41 ft), and the site is rated beginner.
Light penetrates the water in beams, and a halocline marks the line where fresh and salt water separate. An air pocket lets divers surface and look at stalactites forming overhead. The cenote takes its name from a common stone figure of the region, which served as an altar for offerings to the rain god Chaac.
