Coconut Point is a reef dive site at Apo Island, known for its strong, unpredictable current that has earned it the local nickname "the washing machine." Because conditions can vary significantly from day to day, it is considered an advanced dive site, and assessing the current before entering is essential.
The terrain is characterised by an underwater landscape that feels like hiking across the seafloor — fields of green and brown ridges give way to expanses of rose-coloured corals, making for a visually varied and colourful reef dive. The dive is conducted as a drift when conditions allow, ranging from a gentle drift to a full-on washing machine depending on the day.
Marine life at Coconut Point is shaped by the current-driven productivity of the site. Divers regularly encounter large aggregations of jacks, turtles, batfish, and schools of bannerfish. Water temperature sits at 28–29°C, and visibility is generally good. The best season to dive Apo Island is October through May.
