Crack Reef is a wall dive at Layang-layang Island. The dive begins on a large vertical crack in the wall that starts at the surface and plummets to 40 metres or more, which gives the site its name.
Corals, sponges, sea-whips and sea-fans cover the steep wall, and fish tumble down its face before racing back up. Turtles cruise along the wall and white-tip sharks drift by. Grey reef sharks, dogtooth tuna and giant trevallies have also been reported.
Strong currents sometimes run along the wall, so depth limits and air consumption need watching, and coral should not be grabbed for a photograph.
