About this site
Dauin North is a shore-entry reef at Dauin, near Dumaguete in the Philippines. A gentle slope runs from a few metres down to about 25 m, and the water is calm, which makes it a site for first open water dives. Staghorn, brain and mushroom corals and sponges cover the slope.
More than 560 fish species have been recorded on this reef. Clownfish and green turtles are among the residents, with groupers, moray eels, frogfish and small barracuda also reported. The water is 28 to 29°C, and the best season runs from October to June. Good buoyancy control is needed over the corals.
