Depot Beach is a shore-entry snorkelling and scuba diving site located just north of Durras North on the New South Wales South Coast, within the Batemans Marine Park. It suits beginners and is well regarded as a "walk in" scuba diving spot, with parking available directly on the beach; a valid NPWS parking permit is required when using those spaces.
The site offers varied terrain along its length. At the southern end, a large rock platform drops off sharply to a sandy bottom, creating a wall suitable for snorkelling. At the northern end sits a small rocky reef, and between that reef and the next is a shallow inlet called Boat Harbour, which is a popular launch point for boats and sea kayaks and provides easy snorkelling in calm conditions. The bottom type throughout is sand, with rock shelves, large underwater boulders, and reef structures providing relief.
Marine life at Depot Beach includes small fish, crustaceans — among them lobsters — and occasional large stingrays. The site also features seaweeds and sponges across its rocky sections.
Exposure at Depot Beach varies with swell and wind direction, which can shift the best entry and diving locations from visit to visit. In settled conditions the site is accessible directly off the beach. Its beginner-friendly character and shore entry make it a practical choice for those looking to dive or snorkel without a boat.
