About this site
Gak-Ang is a wall dive site off Panglao Island in the Philippines, running from 5 m down to 25 m. The wall is well suited to sidemount divers and rewards a slow, methodical approach, with large gorgonian fans and good coral cover throughout. Small crevices in the wall are worth examining closely, and the sandy bottom below holds a significant amount of macro life.
The wall is a productive site for small and cryptic species. Frogfish, blue-ringed octopus, and ghost pipefish are among the animals to look for in the crevices and on the reef structure, while the verified species list for the site also includes angelfish, trumpetfish, lionfish, and lizardfish. Photographers are well catered for here.
The site is listed as a technical dive site on Panglao Island, and the difficulty is noted as technical, making it appropriate for divers with the relevant certification and experience for that level of diving.
