GMC Reef is an artificial reef off Qatar, built from four submerged vehicles, metal frames and pipes. It lies a short swim of about 10 metres from the beach, depending on the tide. The first vehicle sits at 6 metres after a brief descent from the marker buoy, and the others are a minute apart along a connected rope line.
The reef runs from 4 to 16 metres, with light current, and it is calm, accessible and good for a first dive in Qatar. Sergeant majors school here, with batfish and occasionally rays, and the water is best between October and May.
