Kandooma Thila is a coral-covered underwater pinnacle located in South Male Atoll, Maldives, near Maafushi, and is widely regarded as one of the top dive sites in the atoll. As a thila, its top reef sits below the surface rather than breaking it, placing the shallowest point and surrounding structure within a depth range that tops out at 20 metres.
The terrain is a reef pinnacle draped in coral, with currents channelled around the structure creating conditions typical of Maldivian thilas — strong flow that concentrates marine life at high density. Visibility frequently exceeds 20 metres, and water temperature holds at a consistent 30 °C year-round, making the site diveable across all seasons.
The currents that sweep the thila are the main draw for wildlife: grey reef sharks and white-tip reef sharks are regularly seen working the structure, alongside eagle rays. Whale sharks are also recorded at the site, as are a variety of reef and tropical fish.
Access is by boat, with the site reachable in just minutes from the nearby resort area. Strong currents are a notable feature, and the use of a safety signalling device is recommended when diving exposed thilas in these waters. Despite the current, the site is listed as suitable for beginner divers, though anyone diving here should be comfortable with the conditions a current-swept pinnacle presents.
