Kisima Mungu is a reef dive site located off Diani Beach, Kenya, known for its dramatic underwater terrain and strong currents that make it a site suited to advanced certified divers.
The reef reaches a maximum depth of 28 m, with the structure featuring the kind of reef topography—walls and reef formations—characteristic of the Diani coast. The site's depth and current demand good buoyancy control and experience before descending.
Marine life at Kisima Mungu is varied and includes lobsters, moray eels, leaf scorpionfish, fusiliers, snapper, trevally, barracuda, eagle rays, grey reef sharks, turtles, cuttlefish, nudibranch, and boxfish. Marlin and whale sharks are also recorded at the site. The best conditions align with the dry season, when visibility is at its greatest.
Conditions can be demanding: currents run at medium to strong strength and represent the primary hazard alongside the depth. Visibility is generally great when conditions align. The site is recommended for advanced divers given the combination of depth and current.
