Purple Garden is a reef dive at Racha Yai, off Phuket in Thailand, and most of the time it is a thrilling drift dive. Depths run from 5 to 35 metres, the current is strong, and the site is rated advanced.
Descending to around 30 metres you find great numbers of stingrays among big rocks and whip coral. Manta rays and eagle rays can be sighted around these rocks.
Further along the dive there are sandy areas where seahorses, pipefish and other smaller animals can be seen. At the end of the dive, if the tides are right, you fly over the last part of the reef in a very strong current, so the final stretch needs careful drift-dive handling and good control of your position.
