The Salvatierra Wreck lies near La Paz, Mexico, and is the remains of a ferry that accidentally sank in 1976 after striking the natural reef known as Swanee. The wreck now rests at a maximum depth of around 16 metres (60 ft) and has established itself as one of the standout dive sites in the area.
The site suits beginner-level divers, and the wreck's exterior offers enough structure and marine life to make a full, rewarding dive without any need to enter the interior — penetration of the inside is not permitted.
The wreck hosts a rich and varied fauna, including groupers, sea bass, black coral, and large schools of reef fish, making it a favourite spot for underwater photographers drawn by the density of life covering the hull and surrounding structure.
The site is diveable year-round.
