Snake Bay

Snake Bay, also known as Playa Wachi, is a shore dive on Curaçao. The entry is from a small local beach in the quiet neighbourhood of Boca Sami. A small breakwater protects the entrance, which makes for a peaceful, relaxed start to the dive. There are no facilities at the site, and the minimum certification is Scuba Diver. The maximum depth is about 20 m.

The bay got its name from the many eels that live on the reef. The reef is hilly, with colourful sponge formations and large lobed star corals that create an interesting structure of cracks and crevices. Peek inside to find eels, crabs, shrimps and other creatures hiding away.

The reef also carries a good amount of soft coral, and with luck a few relaxed reef sharks cruise by. From the surface it looks quiet, but it is full of life underwater.
