Split Rock is a shore-entry snorkelling and diving reef located on the coast of Savusavu on Vanua Levu, situated within Savusavu Bay. The site centres on a large rock rich in coral, with the best diving route running between 9–21 m (30–69 ft); the top of the reef reaches almost to the surface, and the base of the main pinnacle outside the cave sits at around 25 m (82 ft), though the verified maximum depth is 4.6 m for the snorkelling area of the site. The terrain features a large cave entrance, massive canyons and swim-throughs draped in large fan corals, anemones and sponges, concluding at a substantial pinnacle covered in colourful corals with small cracks and crevices throughout.
Marine life at Split Rock includes electric clams visible in the cave, nudibranchs, dragon wrasse, lobsters sheltering in reef cracks, damsels, parrotfish, clownfish, clams, and sergeant fish, alongside a wide variety of macro life across the site.
No boat transport is needed to reach Split Rock, as it is accessed directly from the shore. Visibility averages around 40 m (130 ft) and is generally good, with water temperatures ranging from 25–31°C. The site suits Open Water divers and above, as well as beginner-level snorkellers.
