The William Barnum is a wooden steamer wreck in Lake Huron, 5.5 miles (9 km) southeast of the bridge. She lies upright with a mostly intact hull in 74 feet (22.5 m) of water, facing due east.
She started taking on water in heavy weather and grinding ice in the Straits, and went down on 3 April 1894 after a tug took off her crew. The decks have fallen except around the bow, where there are still penetration opportunities, and the boilers and engine are open to inspection.
