Bannerfish Bay is a shore dive south of Dahab's lighthouse, in the middle of Masbat Bay. It begins along a slowly sloping slope with seagrass, where seahorses, anglerfish, nudibranchs, moray eels and stonefish hide, and green turtles are regularly in the seagrass. Sandy slopes hold flounders, ghost pipefish, seamoths and frogfish. Farther out a small reef has schools of bannerfish hovering above it, which gave the site its name, and the mini reefs there hold octopus, morays, shrimps and scorpionfish.
The dive is shallow, with depth up to 25 m. The current is rare, and it is rated easy. It is well suited to night dives, photographers and snorkelling. Sand patches and a buoyancy park make it a good training site as well.
