Bari Reef is a shore-accessible fringing reef on Bonaire, recognised as one of the Caribbean's most biodiverse reefs, with over 300 recorded marine species. The site is protected from strong currents and suits beginner divers and snorkellers alike, offering great visibility down to a maximum depth of 27 metres over a coral reef bottom.
The reef holds an exceptional range of life, including nurse sharks, anglerfish, seahorses, eagle rays, and sea turtles—among them the critically endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle. Colourful reef fish such as parrotfish, angelfish, and sergeant majors are common residents, and the structure supports both hard and soft corals as well as sponges.
Conditions at Bari Reef are consistently calm and protected, with no significant current and reliably great visibility, making it accessible for divers and snorkellers at most levels of experience. As with all Bonaire reefs, touching or standing on coral and disturbing marine life are prohibited; fin awareness in shallow water is especially important to avoid damage to the reef.
