Bubble Beach

Bubble Beach is a sloping sandy dive site in Timor-Leste with several large bommies, reached from the beach at any time. It is named for the thermal bubbles and warm water that rise from the sand and stream toward the surface, from gas pockets underneath. It sits in front of an abandoned graveyard with destroyed tombs, which is said to have once held the bodies of Timorese who helped the Indonesian military during the occupation.

Depths run from 5 to 40 metres. It is a playground for blue spotted stingrays, with a massive area of garden eels and beautiful corals. The deeper part is a coral garden where sharks are often sighted. Huge sponges hide crabs, shrimps and nudibranchs, which makes it good for macro.

On a lucky day you may see turtles or a whitetip reef shark. It is an easy dive for all levels, and snorkeling is possible too.
