Cavala is a deep dive site located off Santa Maria, reached by a short five-minute boat ride. The site follows a drop-off running from 30 to 42 metres, with a cave at the bottom of the wall and a sloping reef described as rich with life and colour. Maximum depth reaches 42–45 metres.
The cave at the base of the drop-off is a known gathering point for bull sharks, and rays are regularly found sheltering there. The slope leading to the cave adds further marine interest throughout the dive.
Cavala is rated a difficulty 3 dive and is suited only to level 2 divers with deep-sea diving experience. Decompression stops are required, and caution is specifically recommended. The combination of depth, the need for decompression management, and the presence of bull sharks makes this a site for experienced, properly qualified divers only.
