Chinese Wall, also known as Bird Rock, is a dive site in the Similan Islands. It is made up of large granite boulders that form a long line heading south and falling away into very deep water. The site has several canyons, swimthroughs and overhangs to explore.
Strong currents can run here at times, so it pays to check their strength and direction soon after descending. Visibility is normally well over 20 metres for most of the diving season.
Giant moray eels are always seen here, along with honeycomb morays and ribbon eels. Whitetip reef sharks are common, with juveniles among the boulders and adults nearer the sandy bottom. The sea fans and corals in the deeper water are in excellent condition.
