Cocoa Corner is a reef dive site located on the outer reef of South Malé Atoll in the Maldives, positioned at a channel corner where tidal water flows in and out of the atoll. This configuration makes it a classic corner dive that combines reef and open-water diving, with steep walls and drop-offs defining its structure.
The terrain features steep walls and drop-offs that fall away into open water, creating the exposure to pelagic currents that defines the site. Conditions here are strongly tied to tidal flow; the site is best dived at slack water, and currents can otherwise be very strong, making this an advanced dive suited to experienced divers.
Cocoa Corner is known for one of the more reliable shark encounters in the Malé Atoll area, with sharks being the primary draw. Divers may also encounter tuna, rays, hammerhead sharks, and manta rays, with the mix of species depending on conditions at the time of the dive. The site is diveable year-round.
Access is by boat. Visibility is generally good, though conditions vary with the tidal cycle and the strong currents that the site is known for.
