About this site

El Morro is a rock pinnacle site at the northern edge of Banderas Bay, near Punta de Mita, Mexico. You know you have reached it when you see a series of rock pinnacles extending above the surface. It is about 30 minutes by boat from Punta de Mita.

The pinnacles rise from the ocean floor and form caves and tunnels. Divers can go down to about 90 ft (27 m), where the entrance of a cave opens up. Fans and corals cover the granite walls inside, with coral and sponges around the site.

The tunnel has colourful nudibranchs, shrimps and octopuses. Outside it you may see jacks and yellowtails, some of the largest eels, and many tropical fish.
