Keem Bay sits at the western end of Achill Island in County Mayo, a horseshoe-shaped cove flanked by steep cliffs and Croaghaun mountain, facing out into the Atlantic off Ireland's west coast and reached by a narrow road that winds down from the higher ground above. The bay is dived as a reef site, and divers here have reported basking sharks and common bottlenose dolphins passing through the open water, along with grey seals and European edible sea urchins around the reef itself.
