The Malakoff Wreck, located off Menorca, is a French-owned ocean-going cargo steamer that sank in 1929 and now sits upright on a sandy bottom. The vessel measures approximately 105 metres in length and has become a fully colonised artificial reef over the decades.
The wreck lies in the depth range of 31–40 metres, with a maximum depth of 39 metres, making it a site suited to advanced divers only. The minimum requirement is 50 logged dives along with demonstrated deep-diving knowledge.
Marine life on the Malakoff is notably prolific, with large morays and scorpion fish living within the structure, and deep-water pelagics — including barracuda, dentex, gilthead bream, triggerfish, and John Dory — regularly visiting the site.
Access is by boat only, organised in cooperation with other local dive centres, with a boat supplement of €20. During high season (July–August) independent arrangements with those centres may be necessary. All divers joining a boat dive must hold a valid medical clearance issued by a doctor within the past two years and proof of diving insurance.
