Manta Point is a boat dive on the southwest corner of Nusa Penida, where manta rays glide over cleaning stations. The coastline around it is rugged and unspoilt. The dive is rated for skilled divers, with strong current, and depths of 5 to 15 m. It is exposed to surge and southern swell, and the water runs 19 to 28 C.
Manta rays are resident year-round, so the chance of seeing them is extremely high. Some have wingspans of more than 3 m, and each has a unique black, white or grey pattern on its underside.
Look for blue spotted rays on the sandy bottom, where they are unusually found lying on top of each other. Octopus live on the huge limestone rocks, bamboo sharks are around, and a Mola Mola is a chance sighting.
