Marina del Este, also known as La Calita, is a shore-entry dive site on the Costa Tropical coast of southern Spain, widely regarded among local instructors as the ideal location for a diver's first time in the water. Entry is straightforward directly from the beach, and the maximum depth does not exceed 14 metres, making the site accessible to complete beginners and all certification levels.
The site holds a broad variety of marine life at shallow depths: octopuses, salema porgies, yellow encrusting anemones, seahorses, moray eels, conger eels, damselfish, and wrasse are all regularly encountered here. Damselfish are notably dark-coloured, while wrasse stand out for their vivid hues. The site is also noted for a wide variety of nudibranchs.
Access is easy from the beach with no significant current or exposure concerns noted for this spot, which is why it is a standard venue for beginner courses and first dives under instruction.
