Mucky Mosque is a black-sand muck slope in Kalabahi Bay at Alor, named for the mosque above the beach. Depth runs from 5 to 25 metres, current is negligible and visibility is often poor.
It is the muck site that guides go to first for Rhinopias, frogfish, ghost pipefish and unusual octopus, and Rhinopias scorpionfish are seen here year-round. Divers have also reported harlequin shrimp and wonderpus on the sand.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
