Paradise is a drift and reef dive off Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, close to Cano Island. It is characterized by volcanic lava formations and a vibrant reef system, with rocky pinnacles and overhangs that give shelter and structure. The nearby island means a protected environment.
Currents shape the dive and range from mild to moderate, though the site is also rated strong. They let you glide along the extensive reef and past the volcanic rock. Depths are typically around 20 to 25 m.
Schools of blue-striped snappers and grunts dominate the reef, often hiding the hard corals behind their numbers. In open water, large schools of mobula rays, sometimes 50 to 60 individuals, glide through the blue. Reef sharks patrol the edges of the reef, and whitetip sharks are often found resting under rock overhangs, camouflaged in the crevices.
