Shaab Talata

Shaab Talata, also called Aruk Talata or Shaab Pytra, is a small reef on the Magawish Plateau off Hurghada. The name comes from the reef's shape, which resembles the Arabic numeral 3. It reaches about 15 metres, and calm weather is needed.

Two ergs stand on sand at 9 to 12 metres, and the main reef between them holds little. The dive that makes the site is the one that keeps going. Hold a straight line out between the ergs and a small coral formation comes into view after a few minutes, with a second one further along the same bearing. Both are considerably busier than the ergs they sit behind.

Another account calls it shallow and colourful, with something for everyone, a good spot for photographers and less experienced divers. The reef is also suitable for night dives.
