SMS Brummer is a German mine laying cruiser wreck in Scapa Flow, Orkney, one of the German Fleet wrecks lying there. She displaced 4,300 tons and was 140 metres long overall. She was built at Stettin and launched in 1915, and she was fast and manoeuvrable at over 28 knots.
Brummer lies on her starboard side, with her port rail at about 20 metres (65 feet). The maximum depth is 34 metres (112 feet). Her largely intact bridge structure is described as a must see.
Context. Other cruisers lie nearby in the same anchorage, among them the Dresden, the Cöln and the Karlsruhe, each with its own depth and condition, so the Brummer is often seen as part of a run of wreck dives rather than on her own.
