The Edge is a wall just west of the north-western peninsula of Pemba. It is the last wall before Pemba island drops into the Pemba channel, and the wall starts at 30 metres and falls away steeply.
Huge barrel sponges and spiral corals grow up to two metres high along the top of the wall. Napoleon fish, potato grouper, cubera snapper, turtles and big pelagics are common encounters, and whitetip sharks are seen too. Strong currents run along the wall, which is rated technical, and the water stays between 24 and 29 degrees Celsius.
