The Pinnacles is a reef dive site located at Glover's Reef Atoll, Belize's smallest and southernmost atoll, situated approximately 16 miles beyond the Barrier Reef. The site features around three dozen giant coral pinnacles that rise up from roughly 30 m (100 ft) at the base to as shallow as 8–10 m (25–30 ft) below the surface, with enormous coral heads gaining 12 m (40 ft) or more of vertical relief. Sponges, plate corals, and large gorgonians cover the pinnacles themselves, while deep sand channels run between them.
The fish life at The Pinnacles is varied and active. Hog snappers and schoolmasters frequent the sand channels between pinnacles, and pelagic species including reef sharks, mackerel, tarpons, and barracudas are regularly seen moving through the site. The dive is conducted by swimming around and through the pinnacles themselves.
The site is reached by boat, with a journey of just over an hour from the mainland. It is considered an easy to moderate dive, suited to Open Water certified divers who are in good health and have dived within the last 12 months. Visibility at the site is good, and the operator notes it is typically chosen as a first dive when conditions allow.
