Turtle Garden is part of the fringing reef off Zanzibar, on the north side of the break in the reef, at depths of 10 to 18 metres. The depth and coral formations are much the same as at the neighbouring fringing-reef sites.
The fish life is typical of a tropical reef, from tiny gobies, tobies and nudibranchs to larger angelfish, butterflyfish and surgeonfish, with many kinds of wrasse and triggerfish. The site suits beginners.
