Brumel is a sheltered dive site a 20-minute boat ride from Flamingo Bay on the Pacific side of Costa Rica, in the Catalina Islands area. Its shallower section has a maximum depth of around 14 m (46 ft).
It is a good choice for beginners and is usually picked when strong winds are blowing, because it offers more protection than the main Catalina Islands sites. The deeper part of the site suits both beginners and certified divers, and from the starting point you can dive either south or northwest depending on conditions.
Visibility is generally good and the water runs from about 20 to 29 C (68 to 84 F), with the main season from November to April. Giant Pacific manta rays, spotted eagle rays, white-tip reef sharks, sea turtles, moray eels, octopuses, jacks and grunts are listed for the site.
