The Dunraven is a British steam and sailing ship, 79 m long, that struck the reef in 1876. She now lies keel up between 15 m and 29 m, next to the reef, and is so overgrown with coral that it is hard to tell where the reef starts. Soft coral growth stretches across the whole hull, and the wreck suits all levels.
Her cargo of wood, spices and cotton was recovered by archaeologists, which leaves the cargo hold open to explore. Moray eels and various nudibranchs live there. When you leave the wreck to continue along the reef, watch for the stonefish that usually hide there in numbers.
