Rasdhoo Channel is a channel dive in Rasdhoo Atoll in the Maldives, between Rasdhoo island and Kuramathi island. It is about three to five minutes by boat from Rasdhoo, and it is a site for experienced divers.
The entry is negative, and the dive goes deep. The thilas (pinnacles) along the atoll drop-off edge between Kuramathi and Rasdhoo, at depths of 20 to 25 m, are already well colonised. The bottom between them is sand.
On the sand between the thilas look for stingrays and whitetip reef sharks. While crossing the channel almost anything is possible, including grey reef sharks, eagle rays, napoleon wrasse and dogtooth tuna. On very lucky days silvertip reef sharks pass through.
The current runs from medium to strong and can be very strong, and the dive can only be done when the current runs into the atoll. It suits divers with Deep Dive training or Advanced Open Water certification.
