Santo Remedio

Santo Remedio is a shallow inside-bay reef in Cancun, grouped with similarly sheltered sites such as Chitales and Manchones. The reef tops out at around 8–10 metres (28–35 feet) and sits alongside a seagrass bed or sandy bottom area adjacent to the coral structure.

The terrain features healthy coral with medium-sized fish moving through it, and the adjacent seagrass and sandy patches are where green sea turtles regularly come to feed. Visibility is excellent, commonly exceeding 25 metres (80+ feet) in Cancun's clear Caribbean water. There is no current or only negligible current at this site, and the water temperature runs 24–26 °C (75–77 °F) in winter and 27–28 °C (80–82 °F) in summer.

The combination of shallow depth, no current, and great visibility makes Santo Remedio well suited to beginners and newly certified divers. During dives here it is common to encounter green sea turtles, eagle rays, green moray eels, nurse sharks, lobsters, crabs, barracudas, and colourful tropical fish.
