Shark Fin Rock, also known as Hin Chalam, is a dive site located near Koh Samaesan, roughly 40 minutes south of Pattaya, accessible by a approximately 30-minute boat ride from the mainland. The site is noted for its healthy coral gardens and sits within one of the most concentrated areas of technical diving in the Gulf of Thailand, alongside sites such as Samaesan Hole and 1/4 Mile Mouthpiece Drop.
The site drops to a maximum depth of 85 metres on a wall profile, making it the second deepest dive site in the Gulf of Thailand. This depth and wall terrain place it firmly in technical diving territory, and it is suited to experienced technical divers rather than recreational divers.
Conditions at Shark Fin Rock involve strong currents, and the best diving season runs from November to April, when water temperatures range between 27 and 30°C.
