About this site
After holding behind Whitefish Point for weather, she ventured out onto the lake heading west, only to run into a raging gale that stopped her progress. Unable to reach shelter at Grand Island, she turned back towards the east but began leaking, and eventually ran into shallow water west of Vermilion. The Crisp Point lifesavers had been alerted, but were unable to locate her in the dark when she lost power and her lights went out. The crew in the stern reached shore in their lifeboat, but the bow boat was lost, and only one person reached shore alive. The ship was quickly broken up. Lies in about 6.7 m; sank 1907.
