About this site
One of 3 schooner-barges in tow of the Steemer Prentice, the Eureka broke her towline and disappeared in a midnight gale. The next day the Winslow spotted the top of her mainmast and a bit of her bow sticking out of the water. Her yawl boat was still tied, so the crew did not have time to escape. Lies in about 16.8 m; sank 1886.
