Ankazo Reef lies off Anorotsangana, a coastal locality in the Sofia region of northwestern Madagascar, facing the Mozambique Channel. This stretch of coast is fringed by reef systems typical of the region, accessed from small coastal settlements rather than established dive hubs. Divers here have reported angelfish, leaf scorpionfish, mackerel, nudibranchs, scorpionfish, and triggerfish on the reef, with the occasional whale shark also sighted passing through.
