About this site
Tabarca Marine Reserve lies off the coast of Alicante in Spain, surrounding the small island of Tabarca in the western Mediterranean. It was designated Spain's first marine reserve in the 1980s, and artificial reef structures have been placed within its protected waters as part of conservation efforts tied to the reserve. The island itself sits a short boat trip from Alicante and Santa Pola on the Costa Blanca. The artificial reef site reaches a maximum depth of around 23 metres and is rated an advanced dive.
