The Astron Wreck lies off Playa Bavaro near Punta Cana, on the Atlantic-facing coast of La Altagracia province in the Dominican Republic, an area otherwise known for its resort shoreline and offshore reef breaks. The site reaches a maximum depth of about 15.2 metres and is rated a beginner dive, though it sits on a bottom prone to strong current and surge, sometimes described locally as corriente or oleaje de fondo. Divers have reported damselfish, parrotfish, eagle rays, nurse sharks, and even hammerhead sharks around the wreck, along with mentions of the nearby wreck of the Lara as a related hazard to be aware of. Boats operating out of Bavaro and Punta Cana serve this stretch of coast.
