About this site
The Atlas lies offshore of the Morehead City and Beaufort area, in the Atlantic waters that make up North Carolina's stretch of the so-called Graveyard of the Atlantic, a region known for its wreck diving off the Outer Banks and Crystal Coast. The wreck sits on a sand bottom with a maximum depth of around 37.5 metres and is rated an intermediate dive. Tiger sharks are a regular sighting here, and divers have also reported grouper on the site. Visibility can be poor at times, so it pays to be prepared for low-visibility conditions when descending on the wreck.
