About this site
Banana Reef sits off the coast of Hurghada in Egypt's Red Sea Governorate, part of the extensive fringing and offshore reef system that dive operators in the area work regularly. It's a reef dive to a maximum depth of around 20 metres, rated beginner despite a current that can run strong, with generally good visibility over the coral bottom. Barracuda, clownfish, eagle rays, grouper, and lionfish are a regular feature of the reef. Divers have also reported bannerfish, damselfish, guitarfish, jacks, lobster, moray eels, nudibranchs, octopus, reef sharks, scorpionfish, sea turtles, snapper, stingrays, and stonefish here.
