About this site
The C-56 is a former US Navy minesweeper that later served in the Mexican Navy before being deliberately sunk off Punta Nizuc, on Cancun's Caribbean coast in Quintana Roo. The hull rests upright on a sandy bottom and has developed a coating of sponges and coral growth over the years, and it is commonly dived alongside other Cancun and Isla Mujeres wrecks as part of the area's artificial reef circuit. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres and is rated an advanced dive. Divers have also reported barracuda, manta rays, and sea turtles around the wreck.
