Batangas Channel

Batangas Channel lies in the waters off Puerto Galera on the northern coast of Mindoro, in the strait that separates Mindoro from the Luzon mainland near Medio Island. This channel is known for funneling current between the two landmasses, and dive operators based in Sabang and Small La Laguna run boat trips out to sites along it. The area sits within the broader Verde Island Passage, a stretch of water recognized for its marine biodiversity. The site is a reef dive to around 30 metres, rated as a beginner site, and divers have reported frogfish, fusiliers, snapper, and sweetlips along the bottom. Stonefish have also been spotted here, so care should be taken with hand and fin placement near the substrate.
