Beyond the Tunnel of Doom

Beyond the Tunnel of Doom lies along the leeward coast of Curaçao, part of the fringing reef system accessible from shore that runs along much of the island's southwest side. Many shore dives in this area involve an entry over a shallow reef flat before dropping onto a slope or wall further out. The reef structure here includes grooved brain coral, lobed star coral, pillar coral, and Lamarck's sheet coral, and divers have reported green sea turtles and longsnout seahorses on the site as well. Blue land crabs and Caribbean land hermit crabs have also been noted around the shore entry area.
